Reason, Season, or Lifetime

Each year I become even more mindful of the fact that people really do come into our lives for a reason, season, or lifetime.

In evaluating my own relationships its very clear who my reasons, seasons, and lifetimes are and vice versa. At the moment for some reason I am deeply introspecting, reflecting, and meditating on everything and everyone that I am thankful for. God is Good! I’m very thankful to have crossed paths with such remarkable people throughout my life and I look forward to crossing paths with many more. I feel so very blessed.

A Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime

"People come into your life for a reason, a season, or
a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you
will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON . . . It is
usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have
come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you
with guidance and support, to aid you physically,
emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a
godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason
you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at an
inconvenient time, this person will say or do something
to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die.
Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our
desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you
sent up has been answered. And now it is time to move on.

When people come into your life for a SEASON . . .
Because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount
of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things
you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional
foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the
person, and put what you have learned to use in all
other relationships and areas of your life. It is said
that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant."

how cute. I have a weakness for boys this age. (actually, just one in particular. but the two showing here are just as cute as my own) [well they all are, aren't they.. i know that]
I think everyone (more or less) is w/ us for a lifetime. (in one way or another). I carry Lots of people with me. (gets kinda heavy sometimes...)

I've been thinking about friendships a lot lately, too. I was a part of a group of ladies that I "mostly" enjoyed being around. I finally slid out of that little group because it just wasn't working for me. But I miss the friendships we had in spite of some differences.... I have a little space to fill with new ones!

Hugs, Peggy.... I so enjoy seeing a new post from you! (and I love from-behind photographs.... your two little friends are precious!)

Friends do come and go with the flow of life. Some stay longer than others. Here is another saying: 'You choose your friends but not your family'. Family are 'stayers' whether that is a good thing or not. And even if family members choose to be aloof or desert you (or vice versa) then that pain (and therefore relationship) is still felt.

Hi you! soory :(..i missed out on your last post..

The friends that had breezed through our lives, whether only for a certain Season or for some time longer for others will undoubtedly shape the kind of person we are in some ways. Sometimes sweeter, while others, more defensive or cautious..

But it's true. They have accomplished or fulfilled a certain need for that time- and would be best, if everyone had a perfect ending to it.. and it's not always possible for some reasons, unfortunately.

(btw, jt left me a longer note this time. now i'm pulling my hair out wondering who can that possibly be!!)

Excellent post. I am hoping we are friends for a lifetime. One certainly never knows as you have to live a lifetime to see who is still around at the end. :-)

But I am certainly happy to call you my friend and I can't wait to see where this friendship takes us.

I’ve been trying to find a way to say, what you have said in this post, for a while now.
Ever since I came across your blog Peggy I knew this, your words, are what I need right now.
I just knew God was at work.
I’m note even sure now which thread I read first. I do remember reading about 3 friends (is that right there were 3 friends to start with and now there are more, I’m sure there were3 of you when I started to read your blog) I typed in Australian blogs, didn’t know why, just feeling I needed some spiritual guidance. Maybe I didn’t know that, but once I started reading I sure knew it then.
I risk sounding like a stoker, or just plan odd. But my life has changed since reading your words.
Your post about Opening the windows and starting fresh has change me.
I’d blog about it but couldn’t’ do you or your words justice.

Thanks for sharing all that you do Peggy
