The Jacaranda Tree and the Power Lines

November in Sydney is a picturesque time because of the Jacaranda Tree.

Streets are awash with the magnificent purple-blue blooms of Jacarandas as they put on a breathtaking floral display, later falling to the earth carpeting the ground with a mass of colour.

It is said that if you are walking underneath the Jacaranda tree and one of the trumpet blossoms falls on your head you will be favoured by fortune.

I found one such tree in Willoughby, the next suburb from my house, when I was driving home the other day, and to my astonishment it was living in harmony with power lines.

I was genuinely awestruck by its beauty and marvelled that even though it had been hacked over the years to accommodate the power lines it had won the battle and now lives in harmony with the power lines.

What an achievement.

that is one large tree!
Do you have redbud trees down under? We planted one in our garden a few years ago. It puts on a nice show every spring. More pink than red.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment Christine, Candelaria and Bill, much appreciated.

@Bill regarding your redbud tree, I can't recall seeing any in Australia. According to Google the redbud tree is the one most associated as "Judea's tree" and is supposedly the tree Judas Iscariot hanged himself after betraying Christ.....interesting eh!!

I like how the tree has won out and is living in harmony with the power lines. I've always had a problem with limbs of trees being lopped off. (Just ask my husband!).

Here we have beautiful Yoshino cherry trees in the spring. They look like puffy clouds when they first bloom. Not quite pink and not quite white.

Hello dear Ninon!
We have an abundance of Jacaranda trees in Sydney and I never ever ever tire of seeing them in bloom.
Also the crepe myrtle trees are stunningly beautiful in bloom and they are plentiful too.

Hey thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, so good to hear from you.

Big hugs xxxx

It's Thanksgiving Day, and our family eats an early dinner instead of lunch. Just now there is a lull between the hectic preparations and all the guests arriving for the meal. I wanted to take some of that time to visit my blogging friends. I needed to say thank you. Thank you for the inspiration you provide here in your place and for the comments you leave behind when you visit mine. Happy Thanksgiving, friend.
