Visualise!

If you don't know where you are going, then how will you get there?

This is what I do:

make pictures in my mind.

see the destination.

imagine my arrival.

dream in perfect detail.

make myself a road map.

study it every day until I know the way and the destination by heart.

see myself the way I want to be when I arrive.

see myself arriving.

"Without this playing of fantasy, no creative work has ever yet come to birth. The debt we owe to the play of imagination is incalculable."
~~ Carl Jung

I wonder what my cat Wilson is visualising? - Taken in February 2008

  1. I'd say the cat is imagining that bird coming doen to a lower branch and birdy looking the other way while kitty gets ready to make his leap... and have fresh breakfast, bringing you of course a remant of his prize so you know what a good hunter he is, and reward hom with a saucer of cream and a rub behind the ears!

  2. I think having something to look forward to is a major ingredient for happiness.

Wish I could dream in detail.
All I seem to do is collapse into a coma at night that seems too short as I am woken up by one of the kids at dawn.

  4. I visualise going to the pub for a few beers - but it may be Friday until I reach my destination... Great stuff as always Peggy!

  5. Peggy, thanks for the 'dream' websites! One year I posted a pretty picture of Burano, Italy in my kitchen, simply because I liked it. And guess where I ended up the next year! Was it my sub-conscious mind I wonder, or a total coincidence?

  6. Great post I believe certainly in visualising. Lots of great sport people do this as part of their preparation of a game.
A different way which helps you visualising is to make a powerpoint slideshow of things you want to be and treat them if you are already be like that. A photo with an "I am" statement and look at it everyday

  7. Very interesting - but what about the bonus you never even imagined?! Isn't it even extra special when it turns up - outta nowhere!?

BTW I've been writing affirmations on my white board - I see them out of the corner of my eye - and it is amazing how they come true.
